Medel


The Public Ministry is tasked with promoting the implementation of the law and ensuring the respect of legality, fundamental rights and equality before the law.

The Public Ministry must be a judiciary authority, independent of the executive branch.

For Medel, the magistrates who exercise the functions of the Public Ministry must enjoy the same freedoms and guarantees as those defined in its declaration on the European Statute of Magistracy. This was the subject of the Declaration of Principles on the Public Ministry, adopted in Naples on March 2nd, 1996 :
